5th Century BC.
ANCIENT GREECE
The birthplace of self-government. Ancient Athens introduced the revolutionary idea that free citizens—not kings—could participate in shaping their government. Though imperfect, Greece planted the first seeds of political liberty and civic responsibility.

509 - 27 BC .
THE ROMAN REPUBLIC
Rome transformed self-government into a constitutional republic governed by law. Through elected officials, written laws, and divided powers, it demonstrated that government itself could be limited by enduring institutions rather than the will of one ruler.

1215
MAGNA CARTA
Magna Carta established one of history's most important legal principles: even the king was subject to the law. It became the foundation for constitutional government, due process, and the enduring rule of law.

16th Century
THE SCHOOL OF SALAMANCA
Spanish scholars developed a revolutionary understanding of natural law, private property, voluntary exchange, and human dignity—laying the intellectual foundations of a free society centuries before the Enlightenment.

1689 - 18th Century
THE AGE OF LIBERTY
The English Bill of Rights permanently limited the monarchy, while Enlightenment thinkers such as Locke, Montesquieu, and Adam Smith explained why liberty, limited government, and natural rights are essential to a free society.

1776
THE AMERICAN FOUNDING
The American Founders transformed centuries of political philosophy into a constitutional republic built on the belief that our rights come from our Creator—not from government. Liberty became the nation's defining principle.

1818 - 1895
FREDERICK DOUGLASS
Frederick Douglass challenged America to live up to its founding ideals. He reminded the nation that liberty belongs to every human being and expanded the promise of freedom to millions who had been denied it.

1871–Present
THE AUSTRIAN SCHOOL
Beginning with Carl Menger, Austrian economists demonstrated how free markets, entrepreneurship, sound money, and voluntary cooperation create prosperity while centralized planning concentrates power and diminishes freedom.

Freedom survives only when each generation chooses to understand it, defend it, and pass it on. The next chapter in the story of liberty will be written by those willing to preserve it.
WHY I DEFEND
INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM
Everything begins with the individual.
- Every invention.
- Every discovery.
- Every business.
- Every family.
- Every civilization.
Before there is prosperity, there is one person free to think.
Before there is progress, there is one person free to act.
Before there is a nation, there is one person whose life belongs to no one else.
Governments do not create that freedom. Majorities do not vote it into existence. It belongs to every human being by virtue of being human.
I will never negotiate that truth.
I defend individual freedom because every assault on civilization begins with the same lie: that the individual exists to serve the state.
I reject that lie.
